Natural Hair Journey

Part 11

Finally I must have literally stumbled upon a You Tube video about ‘twist out’ and ‘bantu knots’. I was so inspired that I tried out the ‘bantu knots’. I actually did something I would never in my life do; I went to work with the ‘bantu knots’ for four (4) days!!!! LOL are you kidding me LOL. I would have never ever done that, but I wanted to try something new and sometimes trying new things demand you to come out of your comfort zone. Well at least my Husband liked it, and that boasted my confidence. On the last day of work, well the Friday I knotted them out to get that curl effect. Well LOL, that didn’t go too well. The curls didn’t have a tight hold so they fell. To this day I have been pondering on what went wrong. I believed it could have been because my hair was really still moist and kind of really damp while knotting them out. However, I will attempt them again soon in the future.
Further along my search for natural hair videos I found quite a few tutorials on ‘Defining Your Curls’. It was then I knew I found the love of my heart. I always wanted to know how is it that I could somehow define my natural curls and over all these years had no knowledge. After going through the process for myself I must say that I do regret relaxing my natural hair. It’s like right now I feel like I had something good and just literally trashed it aside for something else which brought harm. The stress along with relaxing ones hair; stagnant grow, heat damage, constant thinning and the list goes on and on, is not worth it at all once you understand your hair and appreciate it for the texture it is. If you have not relaxed your hair please hear me out DO NOT DO IT AT ALL!! Make time to Research how to handle your hair, how to style it, how to keep it healthy, how to help it grow healthily, what hair type you have and much, much more. I am not a veteran at this but at the rate that I am going, one day I will be.
